on the outs.

happy monday, y'all!

I must admit, I've taken the last month to practice my hermit skillZzzZ! No, no...I haven't been tan absolute purist; I have gone out and seen folks I love and care for. (In fact! I spent my Saturday catching up with my much loved faraway friends via freenights&weekend minutes. A much needed emotional break, as these last months have been relentless.) However, for the most part, I've been taking the time at home to enjoy the quiet. The fall really wrung me into exhaustion, and when the unfortunate opportunity to take some time to relax presented itself...OH HELL YES I took advantage of it.

So, now, I'm about halfway through some sewing projects I've put off afer all this time. Despite having learned to thread a needle, create a running stitches, and make minor repairs when I was in the second grade, I never really sewed until the last year or so. My lola left her machine at my house, and I've taken advantage of learning how to alter garments and make box-shaped things with zippers. While I am not an anarchist, a lil bird told me that the whole DIY movement is based around individualist anarchist philosophy. I'll have to google that; I'm interested. But in further arts and crafts related news, I've also returned to the earring making; I gave away two new pairs to women with whom I organize in FiRE. So, haaaaaaaaaaaaaay arts and crafts! HollerMEback, pls!

And I guess the most exciting thing I'm doing this week is prepping for the end of the year and a kasama's departure to the Philippines, being more present for the sake of my collective, and my crossover into visual art at the following exhibit:

"TAO PO ?/!"
An Art Exhibit on the Human Rights Conditions in the Philippines and Abroad

SUNDAY, 16 December 2007
Alwan for the Arts, # 16 Beaver Street, 4th Floor
(between Broad and New Streets, 1 block east of Whitehall & Bowling Green)

So, despite being in a funk, life is relatively good.

ps: my laptop died. (forreal this time.)
