Military recruiters are often the only people who are actively pursuing
high school students and other young adults. With a nearly $4 billion
annual budget, the airways and the internet are flooded with military
advertising. Recruiters maintain a constant, visible presence in many
schools and communities. They promise job training, college money,
travel, adventure and the chance to serve one's country. Only a small
percentage of young people have access to the resources that can help
them evaluate these offers and explore alternative ways of meeting their
goals.

Military Myths is an established counter-recruitment tool in over 300
organizations around the country, and has been screened by groups such
as Quilombo Collective, Make the Road by Walking, Malcolm X Grassroots,
LYRIC, and Non-Military Options for Youth to name a few. The video won
the award for "Best Documentary" at the Locomotion International Film
Festival in Salt Lake City Utah, and has been officially selected for
the Urban Visionaries Festival, CYPHER (Community Youth Promoting Hip
Hop Empowerment an Results) Festival, NYC and Tower of Youth Film
Festival in CA.
